What is OCPM?
OCPM stands for Object-Centric Process Mining – an approach that analyzes processes around multiple object types (e.g. order, delivery, invoice) instead of reducing them to a single case ID. Events can relate to several objects at the same time.
Why does this matter?
Real ERP and CRM processes are inherently object-centric and multidimensional. OCPM avoids the convergence and divergence distortions that arise when forcing everything into a single case notion, and thereby delivers a more realistic picture of the process.
What does this look like in practice?
One invoice covers three orders; one order is fulfilled in two partial deliveries. With a single case ID you have to choose whether to view the process from the order or the invoice side — and duplicate the other. That distorts frequencies and cycle times. OCPM keeps both object types and the link between them.
Not to be confused with
Not to be confused with multi-perspective reporting, where several views are applied one after another to the same one-dimensional log. OCPM changes the data model itself, not just the analysis on top of it.
